“the most absurd and bloody religion that has ever infected the world.”
He obviously never heard of Islam.
stop asking questions with examples of horrible literacy! just stop asking questions…
he hated the hypocrasy and injustices it came with
Who knows! Why do a lot of ppl?!
V was a philosopher and believed in reason
“I think, therefore I am”
belief does NOT rely on reason
Because its teachings are beyond laughable, and it’s been one of the biggest killers in history. Crusades, Inquisition, witch hunts, Manifest Destiny…
That’s an ironic statement considering what happened as a result of the rejection of traditional religion among 18th century French philosophers. Revolutionaries, citing Voltaire in particular, converted the cathedrals of Paris in “Shrines to Reason,” and then went on to perpetrate one of the most violent epics in French history. Today it is known as the “Reign of Terror.”
@Richard B – “I think, therefore I am” is Descartes, not Voltaire. Ironically, Descartes uttered this statement as the key part of his argument *for* Christianity.
First Voltaire looked so Homosexual & perverted he did not want
to believe in God so he could act out his perversions with other men.
He proclaimed he was a Deist, actually he was not.
He was a confused Gay man, always wearing a Wig bigger than
his ego.
